Zur Feier der Zeit ein Gedicht:
English-German Christmasnachten
When the last kalender-sheets
flattern through the winter-streets
and decemberwind is blowing
then is everybodys knowing
that it is not allzuweit:
coming is the weihnachtszeit!
All the Menschen, Kinder, people
flippen out of ihr warm Stübel,
run to Kaufhof, Aldi, Mass,
make consum und business,
kaufen this und jenes dings
and the churchturmglocke rings.
Alle are on hurry trab,
jagen busy auf and ab,
Shopping-streets along und quer
in the old town hin und her.
And they carry in den Händen
plastik-tütchens with präsenten.
The buyer grinst, the seller lacht;
who has business gemacht?
Everybody thinks: Thats fine,
yes, this is the weihnachtstime.
Viele kaufen sich a tännchen,
when this brennt, the cry: attention!
Rufen for the Feuerwehr:
please come quick to löschen her
goes the tännchen off in rauch,
they are standing on the schlauch.
In this days with strees and noise
hears man oft the heinos voice.
Sings he to deep than ringsaround
the people go to underground.
But when he sings vielleicht too high,
the people gucken in the sky.
In the kitchen of the house
mother makes the christmas-schmaus.
Nach rezepten Oetker-Kraft
it is super what she schafft!
She is working, schufting, bakes-
hit is now her joghurt-keks.
And the Opa says als tester:
we are killed bis zu Silvester.
Then he fills his last glas wine-
yes, this is the weihnachtstime!
Day by day goes so forjonn,
and the holy night does come
you can think, you can remember-
this is immer in december.
When the childrenlein are coming,
candle wachs is abwärts running.
Bing of Crosby christmas sings,
Santa Claus the parcels brings,
while the angels sing auch fine-
well, this is the weihnachtstime!
Baby eyes are big and rund,
family feels kerngesund,
und they unterm baum are hocking
then, well, nothing can they shocking!
They are happy, are so rein -
that happens in the christmas-time!
The animals all in the house,
the hund, the katz, the bird, the mouse,
are running round the weihnachtstree
and joy this day wie never nie,
weil they found kittycat and schappi
im geschenkkarton von pappi.
family begins to sing,
wieder does a glöckche ring,
zum song vom grünen weihnachtsbaum
the tränen running down and down-
bis die mother not more flennt,
weil die gans im ofen brennt!
Yes, her nose is very fine-
panne in the weihnachtstime.
When she has the gans gelöscht,
she comes back zum baum geprescht;
and the family goes on
with vers zwei vom christmassong!
When the weihnachtstime is gone,
is the jahreschanging dran.
Comes dann quickly the silvester,
speaks the kanzler, our bester-
Schröder speaks instead of Kohl,
happy year in our soul.
