Meine Frage ist nun - von wem ist dieses Lied eigentlich ursprünglich? Ich kenne nur tausende von Cover-Versionen.

geschrieben wurde der Titel von Rick Nielsen , seines Zeichens Sänger und Gitarrist der Gruppe Cheap Trick. Besagter Titel wurde von dieser Gruppe auf deren gleichnamigem Debütalbum (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:36zs…) 1977 erstveröffentlicht.

Der Kompomist ist R.Niesen und ist Bandmitglied von Cheap Trick .
Die müßten dann also auch das Original eingespielt haben .

auch was dabei z.b. in der abgefahreren ecke von punk bis speed-, trash-, death- und darkmetal?

Nee, in der Ecke eher weniger. Das „härteste“ Cover ist von den Smashing Pumpkins, aber die sind dann doch eher independent/gothic und nicht so trashig.

Ja, in der Skate Punk-Ecke gibt’s da was. Allerdings weiß ich grad nicht genau von wem - vermutlich aber „Me First And The Gimmie Gimmies“, die covern alles möglich „auf Punk“.

ja, die „me first“ kenn ich - von denen habe ich die cd „have a ball“, aber auf der isses leider nicht drauf.

Auf Coverinfo wird behauptet, es gäbe eine Version von Propagandhi.
Allerdings passt die Version, die ich im Kopf hab, nicht so recht zu dem, was Propagandhi sonst so machen.

Andernorts wird dieses Cover wiederum NoFX oder auch den Violent Femmes zugeordnet - definitiv falsch.
