I read an article about an interesting professor couple, which did research on the causes of Alzheimer’s. The couple got to know each other at the university in Massachusetts (MIT), married after their exam and founded a nursing home for people over 60 with an Alzheimer’s background.
In that alms-house the researcher observed, analysed and assessed their old people and published a book last year. The results of their observations and listed signals for an Alzheimer’s disease are the content of the book.
Unfortunately, there are still no major successes in founding the causes of that disease, but the results are very helpful for the following studies.

Today I read a very amazing article, which affects my daily behaviour, since my reading.
The article is named “The manipulation of shopping”.
Right now, it is really important for the companies to be very clever because of the Christmas (shopping) time.
The article deals with the tricks and ploys of the shops to convince the consumer to buy apparently necessary products.
So it isn’t surprising that we buy the new French wine when we hear the music of accordions in the supermarket and remember the last holidays in Cote d’Azur.

Today I read an article with the topic “The bad side of hope”. This headline made me sceptical, but what I read was very interesting.
The article deals with the bad influence of wrong hope. It means in desperate situation, for example a person has a severe illness, it is better to lay it on the line, instead of raising false hopes.
Studies verify that patients feel emotionally better, when they can accept one’s fate and brace oneself up for the follow changes in their life or their death indeed.
The article is a plea for more enlightenment in hospitals and clinical centres, because the doctors do their patients no service with that.

The magazine ‘psychology-today’ interviews him about his new book ‘Happiness. Unlocking the Mysteries of Psychological Health’.
They spoke about many revealing facts and nice ideas out of the book.
Therefore the question of happiness was the centre of attention. Ed Diener sees this topic from an interesting angel. He holds the opinion, that for example money doesn’t bring happiness but we need many specific tangibles to be satisfied; and that’s the first step in direction of happiness.
He added it’s more important to be at peace with the world and oneself, than to try to form the current living conditions perfectly, because that isn’t possible.

It deals with the question of animal’s brains: “Do Animals Think?”
In the centre of discussion stands the idea of animal research. Is it ethical acceptable to explore diseases with the aid of man’s best friend?
For many, it is a matter of life and death. On the one hand, animal research has helped prevent some of the most pressing human diseases, including hepatitis B, hepatitis C, „mad cow“ disease, malaria, cystic fibrosis and emphysema. On the other hand, this research is performed largely on chimps, our closest nonhuman relatives, with whom we share 98.4% of our genetic material, and on the other great apes, with whom we are similarly biologically close.
In my opinion and I’m a pet lover, it is and will be a controversial issue.

Vielen Dank für eure Hilfe!!!
