Wie kann man den englischen Satz
"There goes the neighbourhood" übersetzen?
Selbstverständlich funktioniert es nicht mit einer wörtlichen Übersetzung, "Da geht die Nachbarschaft" ergibt ja kaum Sinn.

... und damit geht die Nachbarschaft zum Teufel.
Aber Achtung: neigborhood wird oft nicht in unserem deutschen Sinne (als Beziehungsgeflecht zwischen Nachbard) genommen, sondern eher als räumliche Beschreibung (das Viertel wäre etwa die Entsprechung).
A good neigbourhood ist also eine "bessere Gegend".

Übersetzung, "Da geht die Nachbarschaft" ergibt ja kaum Sinn.

Auch in Deutsch wird "Nachbarschaft" in diesem Sinn verwendet.

The old shoemaker died and the neigbourhood went to the funeral.
aber das Wort "neigbourhood" wird eben auch in der anderen Bedeutung verwendet.
Yesterday the bulldozers came - and there goes our neighbourhood ...
Sicherheit darüber kann nur der Zusammenhang liefern.

"There goes....." heißt sinngemäß "Soviel zu(r)....."
Leider kenn ich den Kontext nicht, aber m. E. muß irgendetwas passiert sein, was die Umgebung in der man lebt ins Wanken gebracht hat. Dann würde der Ausspruch Sinn machen"

sollte es sich auf den LP-Titel von Joe Walsh beziehen,bedeutet es in etwa so viel: " Hier/oder jetzt geht die Umwelt/Lebensumfeld zum Teufel."
