Englische Zusammenfassung korrekturlesen?

Von: , Frage gestellt am So, 24. Okt 2004

Hallo!

Also, ich würde mich sehr freuen!

The chapter began with Doreen and her view about her relationship to Arthur. Doreen seemed to be in love with Arthur. She was convinced that her Relationship with Arthur has a future. With pride she told her colleagues from the young man who she got to know. But Arthur’s view about Doreen was different. He thought that she is really nice, but he did not want to begin a courtship, as well he was frightened that one day he could be imprisoned in a marriage. And there was the relationship to Brenda and Winnie, which gave him the excitement which he meant to need. He played off one women against the other. Winnie knew about Brenda and Arthur, but Brenda did know nothing about Winnie and him.

In the next passage Arthur was waiting for Doreen. While he waited he thought about Goose Fair, a festival at the next weekend. He knew that Doreen would ask him if they go together to Goose Fair, but Arthur had Brenda and Winnie already promised to go with them.
Then Doreen arrived and they spent the evening together. On the way to Doreen’s home they spoke about Goose Fair. At first Arthur tried to detract from Goose Fair and told her from a childhood memory which he had at Goose Fair, but a last Doreen asked him if they went to it on Saturday. Arthur told her that he had no time at Saturday, of course he told nothing from Brenda and Winnie. Instead of that he told her that he promised to his mate to went to a Workshop with him. So they agreed on going Thursday, because at Friday Doreen has no time. Doreen was disappointed for not going on Saturday. She had hoped that at Goose Fair her colleagues from the factory would see her with her new boyfriend. But on Thursday the Fair was not so crowded than on Saturday, so the most of her colleagues would go on Saturday.

At Saturday he met Brenda and Winnie at Goose Fair. At first they saunter a little bit and Arthur bought them paper sailor hats, one for Winnie with the sentence “Kiss me quick” and one for Brenda with the text “You’ ve had it’”. The three had fun at Goose Fair. Arthur compared this night with Thursday, when he had been out with Doreen and came to the end, that he did not had so much fun on Thursday night.
Further they “roll pennies”, went to see the side- shows and played darts.
Afterwards they went to the Ghost Train. Arthur made fun about the fear of the other and joked that he want his money back because he could not see anything what is creepy because of the darkness.
Then he heard girls in front of them laughing, Arthur stepped out of the train ran a few yards in front, achieved the girls and scared them. When he wanted back to Brenda and Winnie he stepped in the wrong train. The man and the girl in this train became frightened, because they did not know what happened. Arthur had fun to scare them, the man in the train try to calm the women. But Arthur did not stop to scare them and told such nice things like “ I want a drink o’ blood” and “I’m Jack the Ripper”. Then they come to a turning where a skeleton hang. Arthur wanted to hit the skeleton and suddenly was trapped in it. He struggled with it and at last he joked that he had won and beat the skeleton. After this the Ghost Train trip was over and he went to the next roundabout with Brenda and Winnie. Where the crowed was thickest he kissed Winnie or Brenda when one of them had her back turned.
A little time later they stood by a stall and drunk tea when Arthur suddenly saw Doreen between the people. But as fast as she appeared she also disappeared from his sight. He had tried to greet her but she was away.
When they finished drinking tea they went to other roundabouts like the “Cake Walk” and “Helter Skelter”. The “Helter Skelter” was a high tower with a big slide. They soared up the tower and at fist Winnie slid down, then Brenda and at last Arthur. On the way down the minute- long journey seemed to him like a life- time. A lot of thoughts tried to enter his mind and when he came to the end he felt relaxed that it was nearly over.
As Arthur arrived down Jack, Winnie’s husband Bill and his friend stood by Brenda and Winnie. Bill’s face was swelling with rage and he leaped out of the crowed with the clear intention of strangling Arthur. In no time Arthur went on the run and he accomplished to receive the crowd and lost among the people.

The chapter begins with Doreen and her view about her
relationship to Arthur. Doreen seemed to be in love with

      Hallo, Gipsy!

Ich denke auf diesem Brett soll man ausdrücklich _nicht_ die Hausaufgaben der Schüler erledigen. Ist ja unfair den anderen gegenüber, oder?

The chapter begins (it will always begin with... you can read it several times and it won`t change...so why don´t you write your summary in present tense?) with Doreen and her view about her
relationship with Arthur. It seems that Doreen is in love with
Arthur. She is convinced that her relationship with Arthur
has a future. With pride she tells her colleagues from the
young man who she got to know. But Arthur’s view about Doreen
is different. He thinks that she is really nice, but he does not want a romantic relationship. Also he is frightened that
one day he could be imprisoned in a marriage. And there is his relationship with Brenda and Winnie, giving him excitement. He plays off one woman
against the other. Winnie knows about Brenda and Arthur, but
Brenda does not know anything about Winnie and him.

In the next passage Arthur is waiting for Doreen. While he is waiting he thinks about Goose Fair, a festival held at the next
weekend. He knows that Doreen will ask him to go with her
to Goose Fair, but he had already promised his friends Brenda and Winnie to go with them.
When Doreen arrives, they spend the evening together. On their way to Doreen’s home they talk about Goose Fair. At first
Arthur tries to detract from Goose Fair and tels her from a
childhood memory which he had at Goose Fair, but a least Doreen
asks him if he wants to go with her on Saturday. Telling her that he has no time on Saturday, skipping that he is already going with
Brenda and Winnie. Instead he tells her that he
promised his mate to go to a Workshop with him. So they
agree to go on Thursday. However, Doreen is disappointed for not going on Saturday. She
had hoped that at Goose Fair her colleagues from the factory
would see her with her new boyfriend. But on Thursday the Fair
is not as crowded as on Saturday. And most of her colleagues would go on Saturday.
Take care: it is ON Monday, ON Saturday
    a relationship with someone.

Actually I think you could say that:
he could be imprisoned in a marriage
but it does sound a bit odd.

I would not say: courtship - it sounds really old-fashioned

You do not have to say the names all the time - you could say the protagonist is in love etc.

    That sounds really German:
He plays off one woman against the other.
