Ich frug mich grad, was eigentlich "Tandempartner" oder "Sprachtandem" auf Englisch heißt. Kann man da auch "tandem partner" sagen, oder wird da gleich ans Fahrradfahren gedacht?
Und wo wir schon dabei sind, wie nennt sich das auf anderen Sprachen?

auf Englisch sagt man einfach "language exchange".

You're probably right. But I did'nt want to take the Mickey I actually had never heard of 'tandem partner' as regards to language.
From the link mentioned by Sian I take it that this is serious business and actually called tandem partnership or e tandem partnership for partners who meet online. So the question would have to be 'what is it called in German?' - but never mind just another English expression in the German language.

Not quite, it's two persons speaking two different lanugages and helping each other learning the other language. In my case that's a Chinese girl and me: I help her with German, she helps me with my Chinese.

The German word is Tandempartner. This is not an English expression.

Hatte wirklich keine Vorstellung wovon die Rede war, dachte zunächst es könne vielleicht eine Beschreibung sein für diese Partnerschaften älterer, ausgeschiedener Fachleute mit jungen Anfängern. Gibt es im Handwerk viel und Junge, die sich selbständig machen nehmen diese Hilfe gern in Anspruch.
