Kann mir wer sagen, warum der Film „Tränen der Sonne“ so heißt wie er heißt? Bin nicht dahinter gekommen!
Original im englischen ist ja wohl auch „Tears of sun“?!

Hmm der Film spielt doch in einem afrikanischen Land oder? Vielleicht wird in dem Land auch Bergbau betrieben, weil’s dort Vorkommen von Edelsteinen gibt. Vielleicht heißt so ein Edelstein „Tränen der Sonne“ (in der Landessprache).

Nur eine wage Vermutung

… kommt nur kein einziger Berg bzw -Bau vor … und auch keine Edelsteine.
Ansonsten hatte ich das auch schon überlegt.

zunächst: im Original heißt er ‚Tears of the Sun‘.

Ursprünglich sollte er auch ‚Man of War‘ (wurde auch unter dem Titel produziert) heißen; der Titel wurde allerdings angeblich nach den Anschlägen vom 11. September 2001 gecancelt. Zur Begrüdung:

Title Note: (10/5/01) Apparently reacting to the very real possibility that the USA may actually be at war when this film is released, the „Man of War“ title has been dropped. (10/25/01) The new title is „Hostile Act“. (4/5/02) The title has changed slightly to „Hostile Rescue“. (7/19/02) In a surprising turn of events, Sony has decided to go with the title, „Tears of the Sun“, which was the name of the script most often connected to the long-in-development (and probably now shelved) Die Hard 4. (10/11/02) Boy, the weird stuff doesn’t stop happening with this movie. Now, according to „The Hollywood Reporter“, Bruce Willis has agreed to star in the previously-believed-dead project, Die Hard 4, just so this movie can go back to ‚Man of War‘ again. (11/12/02) Well… that may be, but it appears that the title of this movie may still end up being ‚Tears of the Sun.‘ (11/21/02) That is the current title.
