produziert wurde das Ganze von Qunicy Jones (glaube ich).

Das war 1985 mit der ganzen Band Aid Geschichte. eEnglische Musiker waren die ersten mit „Do they know it’s Christmas“ und die USA hat nachgezogen. Die Deutschen hatten ein Lied namens „Nackt im Wind“ (Gröemeyer, J. Werding, HRK etc.)

allerdings sind da auch leute dabei, die mit einem eigenen song an dem projekt beteiligt waren, also NICHT bei USAforAFRICA gesungen haben…

USA For Africa
Inspired by the celebrated Band Aid, singer Belafonte, Harry decided to organize a similar fund-raising ensemble for the famine victims in Ethiopia. With the assistance of manager Ken Kragen and a series of formal and informal introductions, the grandly conceived USA For Africa was born. On 28 January 1985 , following the American Music Awards, a remarkable cavalcade of artists arrived at Hollywood’s A&M Records Studios where they were greeted by the sign „Check your ego at the door“. The session centred on a composition, well-intentioned, but self-congratulatory, by Richie, Lionel and Jackson, Michael entitled „We Are The World“. Produced by Jones, Quincy, the song was most remarkable for its inclusion of an astonishing 21 solo vocalists including, in order of appearance: Lionel Richie, Wonder, Stevie, Simon, Paul, Rogers, Kenny, Ingram, James, Turner, Tina, Joel, Billy, Jackson, Michael, Ross, Diana, Warwick, Dionne, Nelson, Willie, Jarreau, Al, Springsteen, Bruce, Loggins, Kenny, Steve Perry ( Aerosmith ), Daryl Hall ( Hall And Oates ), Lewis, Huey, Lauper, Cyndi, Carnes, Kim, Dylan, Bob and Charles, Ray. The song went on to top both the US and UK charts and was followed by an album of the same name, which featured contributions from Prince (who was conspicuously absent from the single), the Pointer Sisters (The) and Chicago.
