Kann mir jemand die Bedeutung von „4:20“ erklären ??
Ich war immer davon ausgegangen, daß es sich da um den 20.4. handelt, also Hitlers Geburtstag, zum Beispiel im Falle von Six Feet Under’s Lied „4:20“, da die Amis, zumindest die politisch unkorrekten dieses Thema ja generell etwas „lockerer“ sehen. Aber so vom Text her ist das Lied ja eine ziemliche Kiffer-Hymne und auch wenn ich bei Morpheuss nach 420 suche, findet er hauptsächlich irgendwelche Kiffer-Musik…
kann es sein, das sich das einfach nur auf die Länge des
Stückes bezieht??
glaube ich nicht. wenn ich einfach nur „420“ zur suche bei morpheus oder so eingebe, findet er immer lieder zum thema kiffen. in diesem falle denke ich eher, daß sie das lied so angepasst haben, daß es genau die länge hat. nicht andersrum.
kann aber auch sein, daß ich falsch liege …
es geht weder um den 20. April noch um die Dauer des Songs. Es ist schlicht und ergreifend eine Uhrzeitangabe. Beweis gefällig? Bitte schön:

okay, erstmal danke für die lyrics, alles hatte ich dann doch nicht verstanden …
aber trotzdem ist jetzt nicht alles klar. okay, es ist eine uhrzeitangabe, aber wo ist da der zusammenhang zum kiffen ?? wenn das nur in diesem lied so wäre würde ich das als reine zeitangabe akzeptieren, aber es gibt ja scheinbar mehr lieder, die mit 4:20 und kiffen zu tun haben. wie erklärst du dir das denn ??
Wie schon gesagt: 4:20 oder 20.April oder 420 deutet Hasch/Marihuanakonsum an.
Allerdings ist die Geschichte mit dem Polizeicode eine „urbane Legende“. Es gibt in ganz Amerika keinen Polizeicode dieser Art.
Woher es wirklich kommt: Es wurde von einer kiffenden Jugendgruppe in den frühen 70ern erfunden.

„According to Steven Hager, editor of High Times, the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos. The term 420 was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Waldo Steve,'' a member of the group who now owns a business in San Francisco, says the Waldos would salute each other in the school hallway and say 420 Louis!’’ The term was one of many invented by the group, but it was the one that caught on. It was just a joke, but it came to mean all kinds of things, like `Do you have any?' or `Do I look stoned?' '' he said. Parents and teachers wouldn’t know what we were talking about.’’ The term took root, and flourished, and spread beyond San Rafael with the assistance of the Grateful Dead and their dedicated cohort of pot-smoking fans. The Waldos decided to assert their claim to the history of the term after decades of watching it spread, mutate and be appropriated by commercial interests. The Waldos contacted Hager, and presented him with evidence of 420’s history, primarily a collection of postmarked letters from the early '70s with lots of mention of 420. They also started a Web site, waldo420.com. We have proof, we were the first,'' Waldo Steve said. I mean, it’s not like we wrote a book or invented anything. We just came up with a phrase. But it’s kind of an honor that this emanated from San Rafael.“
