Weiß jemand warum Antiqua-Schriften Antiqua-Schriften heißen. Woher stammt der Name Antiqua?

unter http://www.fontframe.com/tutorials/serif1.htm ist ein bisschen was erklärt, und bei http://www.britannica.com findet man unter dem Stichwort „antiqua“ folgendes:
roman script
also called Antiqua Script, Italian Lettera Antica, in calligraphy, script based upon the clear, orderly Carolingian writing that Italian humanists mistook for the ancient Roman script used at the time of Cicero (1st century BC). They used the term roman to distinguish this supposedly classical style from black-letter and national hands. It was upon the model of antica, or roman, scripts that Renaissance scribes evolved the varieties of roman and italic, or cursive, styles of handwriting, upon which the corresponding typefaces of Nicolas Jenson and of Aldus Manutius were patterned. Antiquas stammen - wie der name schon sagt aus der roemischen antike da diese schriften uerspruenglich mit dem meisel in stein gehauen wuerden haben sie dicke linienansaetze sogenannte serifen (anders sogenannte groteskschriften) antiquas eignen sich ser gut fuer lange fliesstexte da die serifen das auge an der zeile festhalten - sind aber wenig spannungsvoll fuer ueberschriften -> besser groteskschriften. die schrift times new roman ist eine solche antiqua die sehr gut fuer lange texte geeignet ist und die was die typographi angeht nahezu unverwuestlich ist.
