Das Adjektiv ‚arabisch‘ hat in verschiedenen Sprachen zwei Varianten:

ENG: arab, arabic

Beispiele:
Arab culture
Arab countries and links to Arabic web sites
Arabic Language, Literature, and Linguistics

FRA: arabe, arabique

Beispiele:
La langue arabe se présente sous deux formes principales.
la culture arabe
Je pense arabe et français, je rêve arabe et français, j’écris arabe
et français.
la péninsule arabique au-delà des mythes

ITA: arabo, arabico

Beispiele:
Si parla arabo, si mangia arabo, si pensa arabo.
la cultura araba ed islamica
Sto imparando la lingua araba e l’alfabeto arabico.
Vivo in un paese sud-arabico.

Nach welchen Regeln sind diese Varianten zu verwenden?

Hallo,

Im Englischen wuerde ich sagen heisst Arabic tatsaechlich Arabisch, waehrend Arab fuer Araber steht. Also wortwoertlich Araberlaender oder Araberkultur.

Bin gespannt, wie andere das sehen.

Nach welchen Regeln sind diese Varianten zu verwenden?

keine Ahnung :wink:
aber ich kenne *arabique" eigentlich nur in Verbindung mit geographischen Ausdrücken:
la péninsule arabique= arabische Halbinsel
le désert arabique = arabische Wüste
also fast schon Eigennamen.
Für alle anderen „arabischen“ Ausdrücke nimmt man wohl *arabe".
Ich lasse mich aber gern eines Besseren belehren :wink:

PS: mir ist noch ein Wort eingefallen: gomme arabique = arabischer Gummi oder Kautschuck. hmm, ist das jetzt auch geographisch? *grübel*

‚Arabian‘ gibt’s auch noch
Auf Englisch gibt’s sogar noch 'ne Variante: „Arabian“.
Ich weiß, dass die Sprache Arabic heißt und die Nächte Arabian Nights und die Menschen Arabs… aber die konkreten Unterschiede weiß ich leider auch nicht.
