Hallo.
Kann mir bitte jemand helfen. Ich versuche über HyperTerminal eine Verbindung zum Nortel Network BayStack 450-24T Switch aufzubauen, aber wenn ich auf „Auf Anruf warten“ stelle und dann den Kabel über Com-1 anschliesse, keine Antwort bekomme. Was kann man machen um zu connecten?

dann den Kabel über Com-1 anschliesse, keine Antwort bekomme.

Hyperterminal wartet auf einen Anruf, genauer gesagt, auf ein Ring-Signal vom Modem. Da kein Modem vorhanden ist, kann das Signal nicht kommen. Der Router sendet möglicherweise nach dem Einschalten sein Login-Prompt, dann wartet er auch, bis sich jemand meldet.

Warten auf Godot ist spannender, da sagt wenigstens mal jemand was.

Lösung: Lass Hyperterminal den Router „anrufen“
Wenn am entsprechenden Port kein Modem konfiguriert ist, fragt es nichtmal nach einer Telefonnummer (wozu auch) sondern stellt sofort eine Verbindung her. Gemeint ist hier nur die Verbindung Tastatur/Fenster COM1, d.h. der Router bekommt das nicht unbedingt mit. In dem Fall ein-zweimal Enter drücken, dann sollte er sich melden.

BTW: Die Schnittstellenparameter von Rechner und Router müssen natürlich identisch sein, sonst gibt’s Zeichensalat oder gleich garnichts.

Üblich sind gekreuzte Kabel, wie es bei diesem speziellen Gerät ist, weiß ich nicht. Ein Gender Changer ist, wie der Name schon sagt, nur ein Adapter von Stecker auf Buchse - ob Du den brauchst, ergibt sich automatisch aus einem scharfen Blick auf Kabel und Geräte.

Nebenbei bemerkt gibt es bessere Wege, sich Grundwissen anzueignen, als dieses Forum.

Console/Comm Port
The serial console interface is an RS-232 port that enables a connection to a PC or
terminal for monitoring and configuring a standalone switch or a stack
configuration. You can also connect this port to an external modem to enable
remote dial-in management of the switch. The port is a male DB-9 connector,
implemented as a data communication equipment (DCE) connection.
To use the Console/Comm port, you need the following equipment:
• A VT100 or ANSI-compatible terminal, or a PC with a serial port and the
ability to emulate a VT100 terminal.
Configure the terminal settings as follows:
– 9600 baud
– No parity
– 8 bits
– 1 stop bit
– Flow control set to Xon/Xoff
– Window Terminal Emulator option set to NO
– Terminal Preferences: Function, Arrow, and Control keys active
– Buffer size set to 24
• A UL-listed straight-through RS-232 cable with a female DB-9 connector for
the console port on the switch.
The other end of the cable must have a connector appropriate to the serial port
on your computer or terminal. (Most terminals or computers use a male DB-25
connector.)
Any cable connected to the console port must be shielded to comply with
emissions regulations and requirements.

Connecting a Terminal to the Console/Comm Port
To connect a terminal to the console port, follow these steps:

  1. Set the terminal protocol as described in “ Console/Comm Port” on
    page 2-10.
  2. Connect the terminal (or a computer in terminal-emulation mode) to the
    console port using the RS-232 cable.
    a. Connect the female connector of the RS-232 cable directly to the
    Console/Comm Port on the switch, and then tighten the captive
    retaining screws (see Figure 2-7).
    b. Connect the other end of the cable to a terminal or the serial
    connector of a personal computer running communications software.

  3. See the next section, “ Connecting Power,” to connect the AC power cord
    and power up the BayStack 450 switch.

Zusammenfassend brauchst du also ein normale Kabel und musst dein Hyperterminal auf VT100, und den Port auf 9k6, 8N1 mit Xon/Xoff stellen…

Ist übrigens ein schönes, ausführliches Handbuch [so auf den ersten Blick, und gleich gefunden was gesucht war…], da sollte man mal nen Blick reinwerfen… :smile:
