was Spezielles für Blackmore-Fans: Auf der CD Ghost of a Rose (limited edition) ist als Bonus eine Live-Version von Mid Winter´s Night, davon eine Strophe in einer mir gänzlich unbekannten Sprache. Klingt genial, auch wenn ich keine Silbe versteh. Welche Sprache ist das? Das Booklet gibt nichts her und die Homepage auch nicht. Hat jemand von Euch Ahnung?

Keine Ahnung, ob du recht hast. Aber auf jeden Fall habe ich in der letzten Stunde beim googeln ziemlich viel über eine Sprache erfahren, von der ich (Asche auf mein Haupt) bis heute nicht mal wusste, dass es sie gibt. Danke auch dafür.

Thank you for writing. The language that is spoke at the beginning of Mid Winters Night is provincial French. I am told that it is a language that is hundreds of years old and no one really speaks it anymore…sort of a lost language these days. Though they say it is from an area in France on an island that has a mixture of French, Spanish and Italian. The first time I heard this song was from a band from San Francisco called the Terra Nova Consort. The song is quite different the way they perform it, probably truer to its original form. But the title they use is „Marie lei Companion“ and the whole song is song in the original language.
