Nach dem Probleme mit einem Spiel auftraten, man soll die CD einlegen, obwohl sich diese im Laufwerk befindet, hat mir die Hotline geraten die Chiptreiber zu aktualisieren. Diese sind noch von 2000 und 2001.
Ich habe mir bei Intel die exe-Version des Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility 6.3.0.1007 heruntergeladen.
Diese Datei habe ich durch Dopelklick ausgeführt. Der PC hat eine Weile gearbeitet und dann neu gestartet.
Es sind immer noch die alten Treiber vorhanden.
Ich habe dann in die README-Datei gesehen. Diese ist leider auf englisch. Und da waren sie, meine Probleme.
Es gibt noch einige Parameter zum Einstellen.
Kennt sich Jemand damit aus und weiss wie ich die Treiber aktualisieren kann?

Es sei denn, man kann auch einen CD ROM Emulator verwenden.
das Spiel ist „Hinter Gittern“. Es wurde von der CD installiert, die Installation startete automatisch von der CD. Auf dem Bildschirm ist ein Programm-Symbol. Beim starten über das Programm-Symbol erscheint die Fehlermeldung „Bitte legen Sie die CD ein“. Diese befindet sich aber im Laufwerk.
Handelt es sich bei „Chipset Software Installation Utility 6.3.0.1007“ von Intel nicht um Chipsatz-Treiber?
Für das CD-Rom Laufwerk sind keine Treiber installiert. Für dieses Modell, TEAC 516E, steht auch kein Treiber zur Auswahl.

The Windows operating system may prompt you to
install additional drivers if more than one device
was removed during Steps 11 through 13. Follow the

…das erledigt der mit W98 SE mitgelieferte IDE Treiber. Oder auf der CD des Mainboard Herstellers mal n achschauen.

Noch nicht ganz, siehe oben. Eine Ferndiagnose solcher Sachen ist immer schwierig.
sag mal musstest du bei der installation des spieles den lw-buchstaben des cd-roms angeben und hast dieses möglicherweise versäumt?
kannst du vielleich in den spiele-settings nachholen.
dessweiteren handelt es sich um eine original cd, oder um eine gebrannte?
möglicherweise ist aber auch ein solch unglücklicher kopierschutz auf der cd, daß dein rom damit probleme hat - versuch einmal ein anderes laufwerk, oder flash dein cd-rom auf den aktuellsten stand.

Danach habe ich eine HinterGittern.exe Datei zum Starten. Klicke ich diese an erscheint ein Fenster: Bitte die CD einlagen und das Spiel erneut starten!
