‚love me do‘/Beatles - Schlagzeuger
Hallo Ihr,
als oller Beatles-Fan hab ich meinen Freund google befragt. Da hab ich zumindest folgendes gefunden:

The band’s first hit. Paul wrote the song one day when skipping school and John contributed the middle eight. The version that appears on the album is not the same as the single, which features George Martin’s (uncredited) session drummer Andy White. Ringo plays on the album cut.

The two officially released versions of „Love Me Do“ compared
A lot has been made of the fact that the official version released on the „Please Please Me“ album contains a studio drummer (one Andy White) with the unfortunate Ringo relegated to the lowly position of hitting the tambourine on the off beats.
I’d venture to say that as a commercial recording, the Andy White version is the one performed with greater polish and confidence, and recorded with better presence and clarity. Yet, for a unique early snapshot of the Boys at work, the Ringo-drumming version (thankfully now generally available on Past Masters, I) is definitely the one to be preferred because of power with which it speaks to both your ears and heart.

The Beatles record P.S. I Love You and redo Love Me Do with a session drummer under the direction of Ron Richards due to George Martin’s absence. Ringo plays a tambourine in Love Me Do and a maraca on P.S. I Love You. While the Beatles are recording Please, Please Me, George Martin arrives and doesn’t approve of the slow version, which is then re-recorded in November. Out-takes and session tapes were never kept once completed songs had been mastered, therefore there is no copy of the original version of Please, Please Me.
October 5, 1962
The first single featuring P.S. I Love You and Love Me Do was released on October 5th. The 1962 release features Ringo drumming on Love Me Do, which was recorded on September 4th, however the 1963 versions feature Andy White, the session drummer, recorded on September 11th. The record company decided future releases of Love Me Do would feature only Andy White, and therefore all tapes with Ringo were destroyed.

It was first released in the UK on October 5, 1962. That first UK pressing (Parlophone red label) and this single were the only two issues to contain the version of Love Me Do with Ringo on drums. Subsequent releases featured version #2 with session drummer Andy White. The Beatles second single Please Please Me/Ask Me Why was released on Feb. 25, 1963 in the US on the VJ label.
