Diaganol Inkasso Hamburg

For months I have been receiving letters from First Payment Europe
regarding some ABO I apparently signed up for. Now the letters are
coming from Inkasso Hamburg. The letters are all going to an address
that was lived at years ago.

I presume my phone company don’t give out my address. So my question
is how should I react to this? My old address and number are easily
found on the internet unfortunately.
They are asking for 250 Euro and spoke of legal action. Should I
contact them? I am not sure if I could have signed up for something
on the phone with my lack of German.

Thanks

Hi,

did you ever get an ABO? If yes, what ABO should that be? And who is the orderer („Auftraggeber“ in german)? Is it an website? An „Verlag“ (publisher)?

Have you been registered somewhere, where you left your adress or something similar?

In case of panic, you can call the „Verbraucherzentrale“. They can may help you.

Hanzo

„Diagonal Inkasso“ is a notorious company; they use to buy up whole packs of old and outdated „outstanding debts“ and try to collect them by all means, no matter if their claim is legally recoverable, litigious or even unwarranted.
Their bold statement „Unterlagen liegen bei Diagonal Inkasso auf“ is questionable and has to be given evidence by „Diagonal Inkasso“ in case of a court hearing, which usually they cannot. They try to intimidate and harass you with their letters, hoping to upset you enough to make you admit and pay their claim.
My advice would be : to simply ignore their letters, or, if you don´t want to, at least to insist in them sending copies of (legal) documents to prove their made claim; and after that (in case of a unwarranted or doubtful claim), simply to deny it.
