Englisch: frischgebacken

Hallo, Englisch sprechende,

mein Lexikon verlässt mich beim Versuch, das Wort „frischgebacken“ (im
übertragenen Sinne wie z. B. für ein Ehepaar oder Eltern, die das gerade eben
geworden sind) adäquat in Engglisch zu übersetzen. Wer weiß weiter?

Hi,

ich denke es ist „full-fledged“ (zumindest lese ich die Variante immer in der englischen Belletristik). Bei http://www.leo.org finde ich zwar"fully-fledged", bin mir aber über das „-ly“ unsicher wegen der Bindestrich-Komposition.

Hallöchen Bolo,

mein fetter Langenscheidt behauptet in puncto ‚frisch verheiratet‘ (BTW: auch ‚frischer Ehemann‘) sei ‚newly-wed (couple)‘ richtig. Mit Hosenscheißern kenne ich mich nicht aus… :wink:

Hallo nochmal,

da es offenbar keinen Ausdruck gibt, der frischgebacken voll abdeckt, muss ich
präzisieren: Es geht um frischgebackene Eltern, die also gerade ihr erstes Kind
gekriegt haben. Wie heißt sowas auf Englisch?

You are welcome. Correct…no :wink: It sounds very strange to me, sorry. A native speaker would not use the expression. I also would not use fully-fledged as that has a different meaning.

I would stick to „new parents“

Hi
Unter Umstaenden kann man frischgebacken mit newly-minted oder brand new uebersetzen:

brand new parents
newly-minted doctor
aber brand new married couple or newly minted married couple klingen ein bisschen komisch.

Wie gewoehnlich kommt es darauf an und haengt es davon ab.
