Ist dieser Satz richtig:
Yesterday the fire could be extinguished after several hours.
Könnt ihr mit Tipps geben, wie could und managed to in der Vergangenheit richtig genutzt wird?

Ist dieser Satz richtig:
Yesterday the fire could be extinguished after several hours.
Ja.
I managed to get there on time.
We managed to complete our task.
You managed that exercise really well.
Im Aktiv kannst du „to manage to“ verwenden.
Wenn du „could“ nimmst, bedenken, dass es sich um Modalverb handelt --> I could complete the task.
–>I could do the exercise without breaking my bones.
Aber im ersten Beispiel geht es in der Vergangenheit zumindest nicht:
I could get there on time (heißt: Ich könnte es schaffen, rechtzeitig dort zu sein.)
Im Passiv geht nur „could“.
The fire could be extinguished. (konnte gelöscht werden)
Aber: The fire brigade managed to contain the bush fire.
