At first Montag is a happy firemen, who likes his job. But when he meets Clarisse a 17 years old girl, he recognize she is different from the other people and she also asks untypical question, for example if he is happy. He has his first doubt if that what he does the right thing. One day if he comes home his wife lies unconscious on the bed, because she had swallowed numerous of tablets. His wife only watch TV. It becomes ever more thoughtful. The tension grows.
His next assigment is by an old woman. She prefers to die then to burn her own library.
His interest for books grows, because the woman rather dies than to burn her books. Montags steals secretly a book.
Beatty notices the fact that he changed and speak with him, but with less success. Montag decide to visit Faber an old literature professor.
Then the destination from the firemen is Montag’s house, because his wife The climax is reached now, when it kills Beatty and escape to the book people. This is also the main turning point. At the end the city is complete destroyed. Thus arises new hope a new life can begin. And also the negative tendency changes to the positive
“The novel climaxes when Montag and the other firemen are called to burn a home they discover is Montag’s. Millie, Montag’s wife, has betrayed her husband and turned him in as a criminal. “
- Montag meets Clarisse
- Montag’s wife Attempted suicide
- The death of the old woman
- The conversation with Faber
- The death of the old woman
- The fall of the city
