Erstmal ein Lob an dieses Brett… ich schreibe viel auf Englisch, bin aber Deutscher (Muttersprache), und hab’ hier im Brett schon oft hilfreiche linguistische Tipps bekommen, also Danke!
Heute hab’ ich grad was verbraten das mir im geschriebenen Englisch nicht so gut gefällt…

Hat jemand von euch vielleicht eine Alternative für das „it is the other way round“ – „things have changed“, „the situation is different“ ist mir immer noch nicht das wahre, aber es gibt da doch wunderschöne Sachen, was man halt in der Times oder im Economist lesen würde ;o)

wollte ich auch vorschlagen, war mir jedoch nicht ganz sicher. Aber muesste es, wenn ueberhaupt, nicht „The tables have turned“ heissen, also aktiv statt passiv, wie in „das Blatt ht sich gewendet“?

leider bin ich nicht der beste Deutschsprecher und wahrscheinlich habe ich es inhaltlich falsch verstanden, aber ich kenne diese Bezeichnung „the tables have been turned“ (was meiner Meinung nach richtiger ist) eher in Form von „der Spiess wurde umgedreht“, was eben richtig ist, da sich ein Spiess nicht von selbst dreht, ebensowenig wie ein Tisch.
Aber abseits davon, die Wendung in der Thematik kam nicht von selbst, sondern wurde von Menschenhand herbeigefuehrt, daher passiv.
Nowadays the situation is reversed. Fiel mir am ersten ein. Dieser Ausdruck ist ‚neutral‘ insofern man kann nicht durch ihn erkennen, weshalb - der Meinung des Auteurs nach - es geschehen ist.
