wie würdet Ihr die Redensart ‚C’est le ton qui fait la musique‘ ins Englische übersetzen? Hier meine Versuche: Call the tune and you’ll have the/your music/ set a note and you’ll get the pitch
aber vielleicht hat jemand eine idiomatische Version auf Lager? Vielen Dank zum Voraus

ich würde vorschlagen:
It’s not what you say, but how you say it.
oder auch:
It’s not what you say, it’s the way that you say it.
oder auch - nicht ganz ident:
The way things are said shows the real intent
Jede wortwörtliche Übersetzung würde vermutlich verstanden, wäre aber ziemlich „unenglisch“
Übrigens einer der Fälle, wo ich die deutsche (und französische) Phrase malerischer finde.
