Kann mir jemand mal sagen, wie das mit der Fahrerlaubnis in Australien ist??
Ich habe so einen neuen Euroführerschein im Scheckkartenformat und zusätzlich einen sog. internationalen Führerschein als beigelegtes Dokument.
Das dürfte meines Wissens auf jeden Fall reichen, wenn man in Australien aus Urlauber o.ä. unterwegs ist.
Allerdings werde ich dort über ein halbes Jahr verbringen und mir auch eine eigene Wohnung (bzw. ein Zimmer zur Untermiete) nehmen.
Geht das dann auch noch mit meinem Führerschein oder muss ich da vor Ort noch was anderes beantragen?
Oder muss ich vielleicht sogar extra noch einen Führerschein machen??

in West Australien darfst du für ein Jahr mit dem Internationalen Führerschein fahren, vorausgesetzt er ist gültig.
Außerdem bist du verpflichtet, deinen Führerschein bei dir zu tragen.
Ich vermute stark, daß das in den anderen Bundesstaaten das gleiche ist. Aber mit ein bißchen Zeit und Geduld, kannst du dir das vielleicht selber suchen. Oder du läßt mich wissen, wo du hinwillst. )

If you do not intend to stay in NSW and do not hold a permanent visa, you will be regarded as a visiting driver. If you hold a current overseas driver licence you are not required to get a NSW licence even if your stay is longer than three months. If the licence is not written in English, an International Driving Permit, or an English translation must also be carried with the licence when driving.
VICTORIA
Overseas licence or permit holders
May drive (or learn to drive) on an overseas licence/permit ** for an indefinite period, provided the licence/permit is in English or is accompanied by an English translation (an English translation in an International Driver Permit - issued to licence holders - is an acceptable translation). This applies even if age or other eligibility requirements to obtain a licence or permit in Victoria are not met.
ACT
Visiting drivers
Visiting drivers are not required to obtain an ACT Driver Licence providing their overseas licence and International Driving Permit are current. A visiting driver is a person from overseas who arrives in the ACT with no intention of becoming a permanent resident. This includes:
tourists;
business people;
people on working holiday visas; and
people studying or working temporarily in the ACT who intend to return to their home countries when they finish their courses or jobs.
When driving in the ACT a visiting driver must carry:
their foreign driver licence and an International Driving Permit; or
if their foreign driver licence is not written in English, it must be accompanied by an official English translation issued by the National Accreditation Authority For Translators and Interpreters.
Note: An International Driving Permit is only valid if it is accompanied by the foreign licence.
Visiting drivers may only drive vehicles they are permitted to drive in their home country and must comply with any restrictions endorsed on their overseas licence.
Also viel Spaß beim rumfahren, mach dich aber schlau und halt dich an die Verkehrsregeln. Strafzettel sind hier sehr teuer! Vor allem für zu schnelles Fahren.
