Getting rid of tea stains

Hi folks,
Could anybody give me some help on how to get rid of brown tea stains (for want of a better word!)on the inside of silver tea pots?
I have tried vinegar and Kukident tablets but the brown stains refuse to go. One could say, leave the poor little things alone, but I wish to have the tea pot shining inside and outside.
Elbow grease has also failed miserably.
I would be EXCEEDINGLY GRATEFUL for any tips.

John

Hi John,

Could anybody give me some help on how to get rid of brown tea
stains (for want of a better word!)on the inside of silver tea
pots?
I have tried vinegar and Kukident tablets but the brown stains
refuse to go.

The only other thing I could think of would be to try
with bicarbonate of soda (put a little on a wet toothbrush and
start brushing round and round and round …).

One could say, leave the poor little things
alone,

Well, there are some that maintain that tea patina stains are
the sign of a tea connaisseur. Only use this excuse as a last
resort!

Elbow grease has also failed miserably.

Have you tried slave work? I hear unmarried daughters
are particularly good at this sort of thing.

I hope it helps!

Take care,

Elke

Hi John,

I agree with Elke in the use of Sodium Carbonate or in hard cases Sodium Hydroxide.
But be aware, that both are agressiv to your skin and your eyes.

Soak it over night and wash it exhaustive.

Hi Folks,
I will try out what you suggest.
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions!
John
PS Of course, I could buy another teapot!

Hi John,
try it with citric acid, exposure for half an hour should do. To my experience it worked with a tea pot from glass. Absolutely clean afterwards.
Citric acid you get at any drug store (at Germany).
Best regards
Karl

Hi John,
my first idee was vinegar, but not the simple one (only 5%), but the 40% version.
My next idee is, use „Klorix“. It is a very aggressiv claensing agent. But it works!
