Ist das so richtig? Englisch kenner gesucht!

Hey, Ich muss für die Schule eine Rede halten und sagen was es für mich bedeutet Europäer zu sein. Ich habe einen Text verfasst, bin mir aber nicht ganz sicher, ob Fehler enthalten sind, würde mich fruen wenn ihr Englisch-Profis mal ein Auge drauf werft :wink:

I know that we are, in a certain way, privileged in comparison with the rest of the world. We have plenty of food, water and education centres. But most of our goods which we deal with are unnecessary. Do we really need a flat screen TV? Do we really need the latest gaming station? Most of us, even I, wouldn’t want to disclaim this “European standards” In my opinion we have to view this issue at another point of view; at a global view; we have to forget about races, forget about the colour of the skin, forget about nationality, forget about what we do have and what not! Who are we really? Are we Spanish, Germans, Chinese? NO! We are human beings! It’s completely irrelevant of what nationality, culture or religion we are. Therefore I would be ashamed to call myself European and to want to be a cut above other nations and cultures. I am neither, a German, nor a European. I’m a member of the world.

P.S: Selbstverständlich würde ich mich über eure eigene Meinung zu diesem Thema sehr freuen!

Ich fand es gar nicht so schlecht:smile: Ein paar Ausdrücke waren etwas „deutsch“. und im allgemeinen gilt wie im deutschen auch je häufiger man die verben „sein“ und „haben“ umgeht, umso eleganter klingt der text.
Ich hab alles, was mir aufgefallen ist, korrigiert und in deinen text reingeschrieben. Message kommt auf jeden fall rüber. teilweise find ich es ein bisschen dramatisch, aber das muss bei reden wahrscheinlich so sein…

Der erste Teil mit den Konsumgütern ist für das Thema nicht wichtig. Ich denke, hier geht es eher um das, was du im zweiten Teil auch andeutest, nämlich das Gefühl einer gemeinsamen europäischen Nation anzugehören.

Vielleicht solltest Du Deine Rede ein wenig anders aufbauen:

Today the word Europe is on everybody’s lips. The question is, is Europe only about countries and economies or do we as individuals also feel that we are part of one big unity: Europe?

So oder ähnlich könntest Du anfangen und dann Deine Ideen, die ja ganz gut sind einbringen.

Ich habe leider nicht die Zeit, detailliert auf Deinen Speech einzugehen, aber ich hoffe, ich konnte Dir ein wenig helfen

Hallo coolboy10002,

Außer einem fehlenden Punkt finde ich nichts Falsches, doch bin ich kein „Profi“. Zur Sicherheit habe ich den Text an einen Freund in Canada weitergeleitet, einen Engländer mit excellenten Deutschkenntnissen. Sobald ich eine Antwort habe, werde ich mich melden.

das hört sich für mich o.k. an.

Ich würde allerdings empfehlen, den Text einem native-speaker vorzulegen. Dazu könntest du ein geeignetes englischsprachiges Forum suchen und den Text als Beitrag posten.
