Letter of Motivation

Hallo Englisch-Experten,

Dear Sirs,

I would welcome the opportunity to participate in the programme MA in Cultural Studies with Goldsmiths at the University of London.

Since 1998 I work as a Public Relations Officer with KarstadtQuelle Versicherungen (Insurance company). I’m specialized in this field because I’m very interested in all media channels, their function, how they react on upcoming developments and how they influence the behaviours of the recipients. I like networking with all stakeholders to provide them with the information they need. Furthermore I’m very successful finding new issues journalists are strongly interested in and combining these with the subjects of KarstadtQuelle Versicherungen. I gained a lot of experience in developing concepts for events, communication cascades etc. Besides my job I assisted continuously in further education at the Chamber of Commerce in Nuremberg and other institutions. My marketing and public relations studies and my language diploma in French and English helped me to meet the exigent daily business. Please see in my resume.

Since 2007 I’m a member of the crises handling committee of the KarstadtQuelle Versicherungen. In that time I handled in two exercises all necessary procedures successfully. As a member of the board, representing the communications officer, I had to manage all the communications activities with the media, writing press releases, organizing a press conference and advising the CEO. I also had to prepare digital information for the staff and for the customers.

I would like to study with Goldsmiths not only to meet the high and different expectations I’m faced in my job as Public Relations officer, but also to be prepared for the future challenges in communication. KarstadtQuelle Versicherungen expands its business towards other European countries and I will be ready to communicate with people having different cultural backgrounds. I’ m also very interested in working in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) unit of a company, a foundations or a NGO. Issues like environment, culture, society will be even more on the agenda of the companies. I also would like to broaden my experience with different cultures and their impact in art, architecture, design, media etc. I’m interested in their specific motivations, phenomena, origins and customs and how to evaluate and analyse them.

I choose the Goldsmith at the University of London, because the institute and the stuff have an excellent reputation. I like the innovative and interdisciplinary programme which is very internationally oriented. I’ m conscious that in order to be successful in studying while working I must schedule my time very well. I’m convinced that the programme with Goldsmiths meets completely my interests and strengths.

Living in France, in the United States and in Italy for a while I learned not only a lot about different cultures, I also met friends and got to know their motivations and challenges in life. In France for example I worked with an international company called Bayer France, I was completely integrated in day to day business operations in an international environment. Doing business in a different culture was a great learning experience for me. In the United States I studied at Columbus College to obtain a B.A. in English literature, besides I volunteered at the American Red Cross and at a home for the aged. I’m very open minded, interested and tolerant towards people from others cultures and backgrounds.

I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Hallo,

ich schlage folgende, kleine Änderungen vor:
