Letter of motivation

Dear Sir or Madam,

my name is … and I recently completed my A-Levels at the „…“ in … . Your Bachelor-programme for European Studies has caught my eye while I was doing my research for studies and it immediately got my attention.

Europe, and within Europe the European Union, is a project for peace with the objective of a less need for military force in the world, based on the values of freedom, tolerance and democracy. Different countries with different cultures and traditions are coming closer. They trade with each other and try to solve problems together. But the EU is not only a project for peace but one, that also wants to create a better world for all. With the EU enlargement to the East and the integration of Eastern Central Europe in the political system and the economy of Western Europe we are breaking the ground to the world’s largest economic zone where everyone can have an untroubled life. It is a win-win situation for all states being concerned. From my point of view the European Union’s enlargement to the East is our chance to pacify Eastern Europe and to create new bonds between the West and the East.

For me, as a kind of person, who loves values like peace, tolerance and solidarity, it would be wonderful to spend my time, studying the different fields of Europe like its culture or politics and later on, to work professionally in the european sector, dealing with those issues again and supporting a project of peace like the EU. Studying „European Studies“ could fulfil my desire, because I would get the possibility to learn a lot about its culture, economy and society. But especially the focus on the Eastern Central Europe integration, is the most interesting part for me by reason that I aquire the knowledge, to help, to get the East of Europe a little bit closer to the West and to close the gaps where they exist.

Furthermore I have a fascination for other countries and culutures. Studying „European Studies“ is my chance to have a closer look on all the different countries with its traditions situated in Europe.

Moreover I would love to learn a third language and to have about half of my lectures in english. My communication skills are already quite good. I have been learning English for about nine years and Spanish for about seven years in school and I even spend even freetime reading, speaking or writing English. English was one of my two advanced courses and I gave private lessons in English to a few pupils in my school. Since three years I started to read only books being written in english. Furthermore I made an english course for two weeks in my summer holidays last year to improve my knowledge and to end the course successfully with an examination testing my english skills called „Europa-Zertifikat“ level C1, with good results. I have the ability to learn a language very fast and it is absolutely no problem for me to learn three languages at the same time. Actually it would be a pleasure.

Since about four years I have a general interest in politics and economy which I tried to deepen while taking part effectually in the business games „StartUp“, where we found or own company, developed marketing strategies and a finance plan, and „POL&IS – Politics and International Security“. In about one week we learned a lot about international politics and problems which we, representing big countries like the USA, needed to solve altogether. Hallo,

ganz schnell, weil Zeitmangel:

Dear Sir or Madam,

my name is

Your Bachelor-programme for European Studies
has caught my eye while I was doing my research for studies

Europe, and within Europe the European Union, is a project for
peace with the objective of a less need for military force in
the world,

der ganze Satz muss aber umgemodelt werden, so macht er auf Englisch keinen Sinn – One aim of the European Union is amongst others to make the world a safer place /to serve peace / to decrease the need for military build up (military force = spezielle militärische Einheit)

based on the values of freedom, tolerance and
democracy. Different countries with different cultures and
traditions are coming closer.

Dear Sir or Madam,

my name is … and I recently completed my A-Levels at the „…“ in … . Your Bachelor-programme for European Studies has caught my eye during a research for studie-programmes…

Europe, and within the European Union, is a project for peace with the objective of decreasing need for military forces in the world, based on the values of freedom, tolerance and democracy. Different countries with different cultures and traditions are growing together/bonding. Border-crossing trades and collaboration are becoming more common every day. But the EU is not only a project for peace but one, that also aims at creating a better world for everyone. With the EU enlargement(expansion?) to the East as well as the integration of Eastern Central Europe in the political system and the economy of Western Europe we are becoming the world’s largest economic zone, and the basis for a peaceful coliving. It is a win-win situation for all states being concerned. From my point of view the European Union’s enlargement to the East is our chance to pacify Eastern Europe and to create new bonds between the West and the East.

For me, as the kind of person who pursuits of values like peace, tolerance and solidarity, I would be thrilled to spend my time, studying the different fields of Europe like its cultures or politics, as later on, I plan on working professionally in the European sector, supporting a project of peace like the EU.
Studying „European Studies“ would suit me well, because I would be granted possibility to learn a lot about its culture, economy and society. But especially the focus on the Eastern Central Europe integration, is what interests me the most as I would be aquiring knowledge on how to help integrating the East of Europe a bit more into the Western economy and culture.

I am fascinated by foreign countries and culutures. Studying „European Studies“will give me the insight into the different countries with its traditions situated in Europe. (Diesen Absatz empfinde ich als überflüssig)

Moreover I would love to learn a third language (hier wäre es angebracht, die andere Languages noch einfließen zu lassen, vllt zu erklären, wo du diese gelernt hast) and to have about half of my lectures in English. My communication skills are already quite good. I have been learning English for about nine years and Spanish for about seven years in school and I also spend a lot of my freetime reading, speaking or writing in English. I have the ability to learn a language very fast and I would like to master the challenge of learning three languages simultaneously.

Since about four years I have a general interest in politics and economy which I tried to deepen by effectually taking part in the business games „StartUp“, where we (wer ist “we”?)founded or own company, developed marketing strategies and a finance plan, as well as „POL&IS – Politics and International Security“. Hi!

Dear Sir or Madam

I have recently completed my A-Levels at the „…“ in … . I heard about your Bachelor-programme for European Studies while I was researching for my studies and it sounded really interesting.

Du musst denen nicht Europa erklären…

Europe, and within Europe the European Union, is a project for peace with the objective of a lesser need for military force in the world, based on the values of freedom, tolerance and democracy. It is a win-win situation for all states concerned. From my point of view the European Union’s enlargement to the East is our chance to pacify Eastern Europe and to create new bonds between the West and the East.

I am a person who loves values like peace, tolerance and solidarity, it would be wonderful for me to study the different fields of Europe like its culture or politics and later on, I would really like to work professionally in the European sector, dealing with these issues and to support a project of peace like the EU. Studying “European Studies“ may fulfil my desire, because I would have had the chance to learn a lot about its culture, economy and society. But the focus on the Eastern Central Europe integration, is the most interesting part for me, as that I do have the knowledge, to help, to push East of Europe a little bit closer to the West and to close the gaps where they do exist.

Furthermore I am fascinated with other countries and cultures. Studying “European Studies“ is my chance to obtain a closer view at all the different countries with all their traditions situated in Europe.

Moreover I would love to learn a third language. My communication skills are already good. I have been learning English for about nine years and Spanish for about seven years at school and I also spend my leisure time reading, speaking or writing in English. English was one of my two advanced courses and I also gave private lessons in English to a few pupils at my school. Three years ago I started to read English books. I attended a two week English course three years ago, during my summer holidays to enhance my knowledge and to end the course successfully with an examination testing my English skills called „Europa-Zertifikat“ level C1, with good results. I do have the ability to learn languages very quickly and it is no problem for me to learn three languages simultaneously. On the contrary, I would enjoy it.

I have been interested interest in politics and economics for about four years. Hence I deepened my knowledge by participating in the business games “StartUp“, where we founded or own company, developed marketing strategies and a finance plan, and „POL&IS – Politics and International Security“. In about one week we learned a lot about international politics and problems which we, representing big countries like the USA, needed to solve altogether. While I participated in “POL&IS“ I decided to study something with a political orientation. When “European Studies“ caught my eye, I was immediately convinced that this would be a perfect opportunity for me and it also corresponds well with my future plans. I have already learned a great deal about the European Union in Political Education, which was the main theme in our class for half a year. It was also one of my four examination subjects, while I was doing my A-Levels, which does mean that I have already gained a lot of knowledge about the EU and its processes.

My teacher and friends do appreciate a lot that I am a very friendly and extrovert person. I am a really self-sufficient person hence this helps me to solve many task really fast. Hence I am usually able to solve a problem faster than others. In addition, I am not the kind of person who does everything, if there is not enough time any more and I am very conciousness . If I wish to achive a special aim, I always do everything I can, to achieve it, I am a really ambitious person.

Bearing in mind on the one hand what my interests in Europe are,and on the other hand what your study programme offers, I am really enthusiastic to undertake this challenge. I would be glad to obtain the opportunity to study at the „…“ in … and if so, I do ensure you that I will work as hard as I can. I do hope to hear from you in the near future.

Hi ekel!

Please forgive me.
I corrected the letter before I saw your reply.

I go into the naughty corner…

Sorry
Siân

Elke bitte Entschuldige!

Was ist Auspfeilen bitte?

Your Bachelor-programme

Elke

PS: I was NOT fishing for compliments. My intention was entirely different.
