'Letter of Recommendation' - Was muss rein?

Hi!
Ich ahbe schon versucht im Netz Informationen dazu zu finden, aber die Seiten, auf die ich gestoßen bin, haben mich bisher nicht ausreichend informieren können. Daher meine Frage : Was muss alles in einem „Letter of Recommendation“ zur Bewerbung an einer amerikanischen Uni drinstehen?
BTW, bin grad dabei mein Abitur zu machen, also brauche ich wohl Empfehlungsschreiben meiner Englischlehrerin und eines Vertrauenslehrers?!

Hi,

Der Brief muß keineswegs von Deinem Englischlehrer sein. Wenn Du Physik studieren willst, ist vielleicht ein Empfehlungsschreiben Deines Mathe-/Physik lehres besser.

Generell sollte drin stehen:

  1. Woher kennt der Schreibende den Empfohlenen.
  2. Wie sind die fachlichen Leistungen des Empfohlenen
  3. Wie ist der persönliche Arbeitsstil (nicht der Charakter. Das Privatleben gehört genausowenig rein!)
  4. Abschliessend eine klare Empfehlung

Wichtig: Nicht nur Lobphrasen dreschen, sondern Lob (und Tadel) auch nachvollziehbar! begründen.

Admissions committees have suggested that writers:

Limit reference letters to 1-2 pages in length.
Indicate the capacity or setting in which they know the students (classroom, lab, co-curricular, or work) as well as the length of time they have known them and the quality of the interaction.
Frame their comments within the context of the students’ purpose for the letter–for example, graduate school admission vs. employment.
Provide comments that are objective, eliminating as much subjective information as possible.
Refrain from commenting on general moral character so as not to risk any claims of defamation.
Support their views regarding the students’ strengths, talents as well as areas for growth with evidence and concrete examples.
If writers are aware of extenuating circumstances that impacted the students’ academic progress, they should obtain the students’ written permission to disclose that information.
Graduate schools admissions committees have indicated that they are particularly interested in learning the context in which the writers are evaluating the students (level of course difficulty, their grading criteria, ranking among all students in a class or even in their academic career). The writers’ assessment of the students’ attributes such as scholarship, future intellectual promise, consistency of performance, communication, social skills and work behaviors are also deemed very valuable.
