Lucky 7

Hallo an alle Anglophilen!

Hab gerade Placebo’s „A Song To Say Goodbye“ in Textform vor mir liegen und zerbrech mich den Schädel was mit

Before our innocence was lost
you were always one of those
blessed with lucky 7s,
and the voice that made me cry.

Hallo

Vom Craps-gluecksspiel kommt das:

The image of the „Lucky 7“ dice roll is usually made of 5 + 2, as on the cover of the Perry Mason mystery novel „The Case of the Lucky Legs“, but it sometimes comes up 4 + 3, as on this gold-plated American „Lucky 7“ money clip. The „Lucky 7“ dice roll is found on quite a lot of hoodoo curio packaging, including 7-day candles; the character called Lady Luck, in her Irish-Amewrican World War Two incarnation, wears dice for earrings and they always show 7. These „Lucky 7“ images all derive from the dice game of craps, where rolling 7 wins, and thus the dice that roll 7 are a symbol of gambler’s luck.

In Craps, the only real difference between the Pass Line and the Come Bet is that you make a come bet after the point has been established on the Pass Line. After you make a come bet, the first roll of the dice will establish the Come point. If a 7 or 11 rolls, you are an automatic winner.

Oder/auch:
In the days before every city had public lights that dimmed the heavens to our view, and every family had television to bring us in out of the night, the ancients could look up into a sky that seemed filled with a blanket of stars rotating in lockstep around the heavens. But when they looked up from what they believed was an Earth at the center of the universe, some lights in the sky did not act like the stars. The Sun and the Moon seemed to almost race across the day and night respectively. They were certainly different, and over time the ancients noticed that five more bodies seemed to „wander“ across the sky against the background of the stars. These were the planets that are, even now, visible to the naked eye, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The Greek word planasthai meant, to wander, and so they took the name planet for these wanderers in the night sky. ancient astronomers who would predict your fate studied the position of the seven heavenly wanderers at the time of your birth, and other important events in your life. Many believe these seven visible celestial objects are the reason we have a seven day week, and also account for the idea of „Lucky Seven“. You were indeed lucky if you were born with all seven wanderers in favorable positions.

Or, visit this site and go nuts:

…weil, wie darin steht:
The number SEVEN has held special, symbolic and sacred significance in many cultures for thousands of years. This is an extensive compilation of every imaginable reference to seven in world religions, literature, cinematography, sports, geography, math, science, astronomy, language, architecture, travel, anatomy, as well as pop culture.

Was heisst denn, „go nuts?“ Das ist eine Frage fuer einen anderen Tag. …und es heisst nicht „verrueckt werden“ in diesem Zusammenhang! Heh, heh, heh.
