Hallo. Mich würde mal interessieren wie stark die Luft in L.A. verschmutzt ist und v.a. was da für Unterschiede zwischen z.B. Santa Monica und Downtown bestehen? In Santa Monica soll die Luft ja einigermaßen normal sein, da die Winde den „Schmutz“ ins Landesinnere wehen…Wie ist die Luft dort verglichen mit z.B. Deutschland? Und was hat’s mit LA’s ungünstiger Lage zu tun die diese Luftverschmutzung ja begünstigt?

The cool breeze keep the air fresh and clean, as it almost always blows from the ocean. Therefore, the „smog“ issue which characterize Los Angeles doesn’t affect the Santa Monica residents. Sometimes, however, in the autumn months of September through November, the Santa Ana winds will blow from the East towards the ocean, bringing smoggy air to the beaches. Those dry, hot Santa Anas also make conditions ripe for the devastating fires that Los Angeles is known for.
