Hello Svetlana,

there is a department of the German Red Cross Society dealing exclusively with matters concerning research and information about persons, particularly soldiers, which were reported as missing during the second world war. There still is an important number of soldiers that were missed in action without any reliable informations about circumstances and probable place and/or time of their death. Therefore, any detailled information may be highly appreciated by the mentioned Red Cross department. Its adress is:

DRK-Suchdienst
Standort München
Chiemgaustraße 109
81549 München

Phone: + 49(0)89 68 07 73 - 0
Fax: + 49(0)89 68 07 45 92
E-Mail: [email protected]

Anyway, it may be useful to take a precise foto of the identification tag and enclose it to a letter or a message sent to DRK-Suchdienst - it seems to me that the data you’ve mentioned are erroneous: There should be at least two figures on it, one composed from two or three digits, and another one, and the letters should be either FLA-BTL or FLG-BTL.

All the best - дружба!

Blumepeder

Thank you very much for your information, I’ll ask my friend to write the number because first it was by phone. You can speak russian too?
Best wishes, Svetlana
