Weiss jemand wie ein YULOH auf Deutsch heist und ob dieses System in Europa verwendet wurde oder verwendet wird.

[31 Dec 98] If anyone is interested, I have some university (Tokyo, Yokohama) prepared reports of studies and towing tank tests on these low speed hydrofoil propulsion devices. - The Chinese Yuloh, the Japanese Ro, also known as the oriental sweep, or over the transom sculling. Other sources I have identified so far: (1) Junks and Sampans of the Yangtze, by GRG Worcester, 1940, (2) Ozawa Rowing article on traditional Japanese Ro.

Ist damit das „Wriggen“ gemeint?

Ein Riemen wird in das hintere, in Heckmitte angebrachte, Zepter gelegt und man bewegt das Boot durch eine bestimmte Bewegung.
Man benutzt diese Art Fortbewegung dort, wo für beide Seitenriemen kein Platz ist.

I am interested in such propulsion devices. Did you ever hear about an oar with folding leaves? Such an oar remains all the time under water. While it is pulled forewards, the leave-halves clap together. When it is pulled backwards, the leave-halves spread and do their work.
