in den USA wird ein Weißer offiziell als „caucasian“ bezeichnet, also „kaukasisch“. Daß im Kaukasus mehr hellhäutige Menschen wohnen als Asiaten oder Schwarze, ist klar, aber wieso gerade „caucasian“ und nicht z.B. „european“?
Wer weiß was?

Ich wusste nichts, habe aber recherchiert. Hier das Ergebnis von einer Seite, deren Zuverlässigkeit ich leicht bezweifle:
„The reason „white“ skinned people are called „Caucasian“ is because they are the descendants of these tribes.“

ich hatte nur gefunden, daß der Begriff keine besondere Bedeutung hat und deshalb gewählt wurde, weil man nicht „indo-germanisch“ verwenden wollte, weil das durch die Sprachwissenschaftler bereits belegt ist.
